Wait.
Scott, did you say a misbehaving CDV? Did you NOT delete the CDV upon purchase? Because that would make the shifting hangups right then and there. There is no filter to replace in the 6MT, but I'd look under the trans and see if perhaps you are leaking fluid slowly from the drain plug? It happens sometimes if the seal fails on the plug. If you were in Jersey I could hook you up with a shop that would actually troubleshoot properly, and wouldn't just throw parts at the problem. They are the premier tri-state European repair facility, and do things right the first time. Its prob a 2.5 to 3 hr drive for you but might be worth it for Rolf. www.redlinespeedworx.com - Ask for JR - He's one of the owners and a ridiculously certified tech. But if you have the stock CDV installed and had the stealer replace the clutch because of the way the stock clutch system operates I feel bad lol

another somewhat easy thing to try...flush the clutch fluid. It should be done every couple years on the brake fluid schedule. And as Ricky said while you are in the area ditch the CDV.

2002 X5
Greetings from the Aloha State. Took me about 6 months to find mine, 2002 black on black with the sport package. I was really lucky because we are a bit isolated out here. Mine was owned by a Air Force Officer who bought it new in Germany in 2002. I have all the delivery and service records from new and the PO was very good about maintenance. It currently has just a little over 125K but runs and drives like a dream. I'm not new to BMW's having owned more than 15 over the last 10 years, but this X5 is by far the best I've ever driven. Looking forward to many happy miles.

Fuel mileage
The gov website says for 2006 X5 6-sp MT, the fuel mileage is 20 mpg.
Gas Mileage of 2006 Vehicles by BMW My experience is better than that. Single driver (no cargo), long-distance driving (cruise control set at 70 mph @ 6th gear), I get 24-25 mpg. This is from direct measurement (not by the fuel consumption needle in the dash): - Fill with gas - Drive ___ miles - Refill with gas Then calculate mpg. What is your gas mileage on the highway using direct measurement that you do it yourself?

Our '01 3.0 is a 5 speed, and doesn't have that better 6th ratio, but fwiw my OBC shows 20.3 cumulative, which has only been reset a couple times in 13+ yrs and 99 thou + miles. On tank fills using arith, we usually see 20/20.1/20.4 etc, with a rare 21+, on trips during non-summer/no AC, all day drives. In the usual of around town/some highway, and up & down our very steep mtn road, aka 'general driving', we see 17-18. MPG was never a real consideration, but it has remained quite constant over all these years. Occasional Premium, lots of mid grade, rarely Regular, though that infrequent 21+ has come using mid grade on all day 700+ mile haul azz road trips. MPG is no big deal for us...fwiw, our '02 VetteVert does 25 all the time and often 29-30 on trips. Different gearing, (5th is OD/6th is Way OD), weight, frontal area, coefficient of drag, etc. My 3 m'cycles all get 40 to 45, ![]() ![]() GL, mD

Cam, on my 03 5MT with the following:
-33psi -Staggered 168's with 275/40 and 315/35 20" tires (Toyo Proxes STII all seasons) I get an exact calculated mpg, mixed driving 40% city/60% highway of 19.5 mpg spot on. I reset the trip meter and divide by gallons filled at the next fuel stop, divided my miles driven. If I do a solid all highway drive (long trip) I get a solid 22 mpg at 75 mph.
