Issue when braking.

Hello Guys.
I have a strange issue that i can not find answer for with the search function so I decided to ask you guys directly.
I have a 2005 X5 3.0i.The car have 93000 mls and recently I notice that when I tap the brake pedal the front left side feels ...uhmmm loose. There is a play somewhere on the front left side that only show when i tap the brake pedal.
When I brake slowly everything is fine, the car stops perfect without any shakes or signs of problems.
When I go over bumps there is no clunking sounds or anything.
Is just when I tap the brake.Very strange and it drives me nuts.I am guessing is some kind of bushings or brake related issue but i am not sure.
I called the dealer and they told me to get the car to them so they can look at it but with a hourly rate of 125$ for labor I really do not want to do it.
Can anyone steer me in the direction of what the problem can be?
Thank you guys.

Take the wheel off, jack up the car on stands and get under and have a good look at all your linkages. I'd be looking at all the bushings first.

You are the proud owner of an 05 X. Get accustomed to the 125/hr. or get real familiar with this website!

My X5 has the same issue, and while I haven't crawled under to look,

equivalent experience with my E36 328is, the problem was all the control arm bushings, and joints.

The X5 parts are different than my 328, but the same wear spots are in play. I saw ECS had a kit for the parts for about $550.

I'd start by checking all the bushings in the front end. There's a chance your control arm bushings are worn out and you're only feeling the issue under braking. If that's the case then I have rebuild kits for your Xs suspension available HERE.

Control Arms / Bushings?

Go to Big O or Les Schwab tires if possible they will both do a free suspension check so you know what you're looking at.. maybe try another indy 125 / hr is pretty steep

If the bushings look good, make sure that the nuts are torqued to specs . The lowers have the tendency to loosen up. They should be something like 74 lbs-ft.
