Did you ever open up the old fan to determine if it was the motor or the control circuit that got toast? I betting it was the control board.

I never got around it. I think I tried taking it apart but it was on there pretty well and I was in a rush. It's still at my parent's garage though!

Reviving a somewhat old thread... So it started with the compressor not kicking on, got a good lesson from upallnight on how to troubleshoot it properly... Anyways before I changed the compressor kept researching and finally got to try the aux fan. I found the 50amp was blown, I replaced it with the spare fuse and started the car (but the fan was unplugged) so as soon as I plugged it, the fan started turning and I almost smiled until I saw pink smoke coming from the front fan motor area... I quickly shut the engine off and unplugged the fuse (new fuse is not blown but it was starting to bubble up) I did notice that if I plug the fuse back even without the key in the ignition switch, the fan starts to smoke.... I will be ordering a new fan and changing it in the next couple of weeks.

Yep, you've let the smoke out of the electrical system. Once you let the smoke out it's almost impossible to get it back in again.

Fingers crossed for you that a replacement fan fixes the issue.

Pink smoke huh. Can't be good. Means the motor is having a BF. I'm in a similar boat. The A/C works still when moving, compressor kicks on, so the cuiruit board is good, the motor will kinda twitch, but that's it. maybe a start capacitor in the electric motor. If anyone wants to send me there bad one, I'll tear it apart and give some love to the forum.
