Yup, I miss my Lexus touchscreen. Stupid spinning knob.

Has there been any break through with setting the dash clock. I fitted an Eonon unit to the wifes X5 as she wanted a bluetooth system for her phone and wanted a better navigation system.

Providing your Eonon has a USB port, you can order this iBus interface and will allow all the MID functions and more.

Are you asking about the original clock that's accessed through the original MID or Nav screen? Or are you asking about the aftermarket install's clock?

Hmm, no vehicle info (model/model year/build date/etc)...so I'll assume you have the high cluster that has the 20 digit alpha/numeric display...which could be programmed to have any of the OBC features appear in the cluster's display.

Unfortunately...when you removed either your MID or Nav screen...you removed the component that allows you to control the programming of the vehicles original Clock. So unless you plug the MID or the Nav screen back in...any of the OBC functions you want to change or reset...are no longer available.

But doesn't the aftermarket unit you install have it's own clock?

I tried to sort out my signature with the model. It is an E53 3.0d Sport and as you assumed it was the large screen 20 button model with sat nav. This head unit has a clock as did the old unit. It is no great hardship to loose the clock but if I could fix it I would. I see on you tube someone had wired up a digital clock mechanism that could send the time to the dash.

Two methods.

One like mentioned uses an android stereo and the ibus adapter linked above. It will automatically set the clock each time you start the vehicle. Very handy.

Second method is to use an android phone with the above linked ibus adapter. Each time you run the app on the phone with it plugged into the ibus adapter it will set the clock on your X5.

That's the only two options within reason without the factory stereo.

Other than the clock on the dash, what other functions have I lost by removing the original unit that may be of concern.

Only some basic trip computer and fuel usage info. Maybe the speed limit warning too (not sure as I have a CD/MID and not the OEM Nav.)

I believe the I-Bus app also returns access to these function.

Ibus adapter and the app for it returns all functions that the factory nav unit had and adds a ton of new features.
