thank you for this information. however, the OP has a X5, and not a 540i. The location of that dsc module is not the same location. And furthermore, if your ground point is loose on that side, most likely the car was in an accident, and would have some exterior lights flickering, and possibly a check engine lamp on for secondary air faults. Please refrain from contributing information that does not apply to the OP vehicle, and especially when he has already fixed the issue. |

i think while replacing the hydropump they may have bumped the ground wire and this would have appeared to fix problems.
X5's have a ground/negative just like 540's you know ![]() Navigation issues still remain... Having an accident has nothing to do with corrosion on ground terminals. I dont think the problem has been fixed properly at all. Please refrain from being a rude forum member when all i was trying to do was actually steer the OP member in the right direction...sorry for trying to be helpful and pass on experience and information for which this entire board is here for!!! |

impossible to know now if it was the grounding that was the problem, but from the info in the above links it seems very possible.
Of only I had known to check this I could possbly have saved a small fortune :-( Thanks for the tip anyway. If I run into electrical problems again the grounding will be the first thing to check. In fact I will ask the workshop the check the grounding points during the next service which is coming up shortly. |
