I have to disagree with the notion of not changing tranny fluid. I used to tow my boat with the X5 and the number one cause of tranny failure is high temps, you should have seen how bad my tranny fluid was when we changed it. I did this three times in the last two years the car has 147k miles on it and I have had no transmission issues at all, despite towing.
