The reason she wanted this seat for her mother's E46 (over and above the backless one that is in my X) is so that she would have a head rest. She sleeps in it on a long trip (when we change it to the X) or after a rough day. She leans her head to one side and seems much more comfortable (and safe) than resting her neck on the seat belt.

It's also really sturdy. There's a video on YouTube that really sold me on it. Some mom reviews seats or something. I particularly like the side impact protection. I don't know if it would really help or not when it is time, but she fits INTO this thing as it wraps around her. It makes me *feel* better than the backless one, anyway. That's why it's LATCHed in the lower E46 where she spends the most time.
