Which Toddler Car Seat
Please give suggestions on what you have, and if you have a similar problem. She is currently 35lbs, and 34" tall. So I need something that will let me use it for a while. A year at least would be nice. |

Same thing happens with ours... can't remember the brand/model but it wasn't cheap. It's secure as can possibly be... but she just flops her head forward and to the side and damn near chokes herself out on the shoulder strap when she sleeps. The car seat even has an adjustable angle to keep this from happening... to no avail.
Have you tried leaning the seats back a little via the recliner? I actually forgot about that feature until just now... gonna go try it out. BRB.

an old man's perspective..
We had some ginormous super-comfy, etc, child seat. that did recline and we put my daughter in the -front- seat when we would drive her to sleep on bad nights (obviously pre-passenger airbag, a honda). We would recline the front so we could recline the child seat. Aside from our discussion that if we were rear-ended she would eject through the top of the seat, guess what? Her head wound up on her chest unless she was Very flat. We added a 'banana' pillow under her chin, held in with the shoulder straps. She'll grad college next year and seems to have a decent IQ.. good luck with your search gents..

Shit. I was afraid you guys were going to say that. Yea reclining the seats doesn't work. My Lexus bucket seats were perfect. The same car seat worked really well, she was always leaned back. Damn.
Banana pillow you say? Hmmmmm. It's an option if a seat is really not available. |

Is the car seat rear facing or forward facing? We have a Britax Advocate that we have rear facing in both our X5 and MDX and initially had the same issue. Britax recommended using Styrofoam pool noodles or a rolled up towel under the edge of the seat to adjust the recline. Worked like a champ!
Edit for reference from Britax user manual: Here's PDF of car seat manual: http://www.britaxusa.com/uploads/cms...P363400_R1.pdf Noodle/Towel tip on page 19, step 8, bullet 3 for rear-facing, shoulder/lap-belt installation. This year, we bought our 41lb 8 yr old girl one of these. It has a reclining head rest and still uses the LATCH system to attach. It's good to 12 years and something like 100lbs. We bought at albeebaby.com though I don't see they carry them any more.
She's so tiny that I joke with her she'll take it on her first date. ![]()

No forward facing. I tried shoving towels under the edge, but it's a latch system one and rigid, so the seat becomes loose when the front is lifted. It just doesn't make good contact with the X5 seats.
Propeller, that looks interesting. Does she sleep in it? How is the head tilt situation? |

dunno if they even Have them anymore, but yeah, it was a bright yellow crib toy, when "wow this is SOOooo Soft" stuff first hit the market. We kinda' made it part of the whole loading her up action, since she had no idea why we were doing all this shite anyway with five points and all that.. so she had a chin softy every time and thankfully didn't mind. If she did fall asleep, at least she didn't look like a broken neck victim - I swear her chin was pressing her windpipe without it, lol. Did I mention this seat was huge? Her nothing pounds Sank into it at home, but no-joy in the car..
The cybex is 3yrs and up?

It's also really sturdy. There's a video on YouTube that really sold me on it. Some mom reviews seats or something. I particularly like the side impact protection. I don't know if it would really help or not when it is time, but she fits INTO this thing as it wraps around her. It makes me *feel* better than the backless one, anyway. That's why it's LATCHed in the lower E46 where she spends the most time.

My son is two years old and I got him this one:
Graco Argos 70 3-in-1 Car Seat - Crest - Graco - Babies "R" Us It is a 3 in 1 and converts as they grow. Its from 20-120 lbs so you wont need to buy another car seat for a long time.
