I totally agree on the problems with drilled/slotted rotors. I won't be purchasing either. Like I stated, I am mostly interested in information on pads right now, simply because the amount of dust I'm getting from the OE set is terrible.

I'm not going to need to worry about replacement for a while but I like to keep a set of brakes and at least a service 1 kit on hand for all of my vehicles. Makes it much easier to commit a Saturday morning to maintenance when all the parts needed are on hand.

I'm surprised to see that I'm the only one suggesting Hawk HPS.
I used them on my E46 and E30 and was very satisfied.
Just Google, Hawk HPS, BMW, dust... you will see many satisfied BMW owners using them.

I like them too. Had them on all the other bimmers. Never tried them on the SAV yet, so really don't know. I don't even want to see if they are available for my X. Don't need them yet, and don't want to find out the shock price of them. Rotors are huge on this beast.

Used Cool Carbon pads on my '05 330i ZSP, they were almost dustless, had slightly less initial bite then OE pads. Will be installing them on my X when the OE pads are worn out because I dislike the threshold setting of the brake assist intervention that boosts the brake pressure when the driver presses the pedal briskly. I know from driving my X where the inital braking point in pedal travel is, just because I pushed it to that point briskly does NOT mean I am PANIC BRAKING!!! The lower inital bite of the Cool Carbons should reduce this retarded brake assist. This is a "drivers nanny" that really sucks and I wish I knew how to kick her a$$ to the curb!
