ABS Module for X5..

I am trying to get a used one on eBay. I know Bosch 5.7 is the module and I see some VW/Audi's use the same module (and sold cheaper).
My question is, are all the Bosch 5.7s are a match for my X5 01 4.4? Or are there certain ones that I cannot use even if they are 5.7s?

Thanks for all the help..

Ozzie..

The ABS modules are different even within the various BMW models that use the 5.7, depending on the features on that particular model (ABS, DSC, etc). I would imagine that the VW versions are different again.

You will also have to code it to the vehicle once you replace it.

Why not have you current module rebuilt then you do not need to have it coded?

Bosch 5.7 refers more to the software (and hardware) manufactured by Bosch and used by many car manufactures.
But yes you need the abs module specific for your vehicle.

I got mine rebuilt already (autoecu). Firstly they could not find an error, and once I told them things go wrong after the engine is hot, they rebuilt it anyways. Unfortunately, 'something' is still failing and causing my transmission to 'FAILSAFE'.
The reason we are blaming abs module is because the speed data seems to be affected somehow after engine heat up and every other part is pretty much new (rebuilt transmission, replaced transmission module, new speed sensors, new transmission cooler, replaced valve body..)
The issue seems to be electrical and do not know where to go next..

Please read my previous posting. I have transmission issues and after almost every module being replaced and my transmission rebuilt (also my abs module rebuilt) the issues are still there. After 5-10 mins of driving, and coming to a stop, my car does not move when I step on the gas, and after I step on the gas a bit, it jumps causing a TRANS FAIL SAFE.

Right now my mechanic suspects an electrical problem (battery new, alternator checks ok 13 - 13.6V constant) and saying that it causes the ABS module to lose speed data thus it causes transmission to act up..

My ABS module was rebuilt (although it passed the checks before rebuild, autoecu did it anyways) but since everything else is changed (but wire harnesses) I will have doubts until I can test another one on the car.

Please let me know if you have any ideas..

Hey Ozzie, I feel your pain main.
I recently bought an 08 328i E92 with 32,000 miles (out of warranty) and I am having transmission problems. The dealer diagnosed it and they told me that the valve body and the entire transmission needs to be replaced. When I removed the trans I found out that it was already replaced with another transmission. So I am guessing that the transmission is not the problem.
I was having the same exact problem and it would go into failsafe mode. But when I changed the fluid, it would shift fine until I shut the ignition off.
I really hope that this used transmission that I purchased for $1000 will fix the problem.
