Tire Wear

Got a quick question for you guru's.....Is it normal for 20's to wear on the inside? I didn't have this issue on my 4.4i. I know the camber is more pronounced on the 4.6is, but it should be adjusted for normal tire wear.....Phil

Rotate regularly and you shouldn't have problems.

Are the the tires directional? If not, you can do side-side.

Phil, I think it's somewhat normal for your tires (rear specially) to wear on the inside due to neg. camber. However is the wear excessive? Then alignment may come in play here. Did you check the suspension and alignment?

I don't think the suspension is an issue because it looks like the wear is even. I just came off of a 300 mile trip and the thread just started showing. My gut tells me that this is normal. I was just wondering if it only happened on 4.6is and 4.8is. I didn't notice this type of tire wear on my 4.4i or my ///M3......Phil

you could try a custom alignment with less camber in the rear.. they are adjusted by eccentric bolts. Not sure what the setting is on yours... but keep in mind that you are removing some of the understeer that was designed into your car to keep you safe at speed...

This is why I haven't had the negative camber adjusted. I like the ride...I was wondering if this was a 4.6/4.8 issue. Now on to the bigger issue...you guys now anyone with good prices...I'm a Michelin man personally. I've had Michelin's on my ///M3 , my 4.4i and my bike even rides on pilot sports. I've checked Discount tire and the Tire Rack ...avg for a set of four is 1400.00 need suggestions...............Phil

I've always had Diamaris on my 20s until a couple years ago when I switched to Contis 4x4 Contact. While the latter perform admirably they're not comparable to the former in terms of pure performance and handling on dry/wet surfaces. I'm going back to the Diamaris (yes they're expensive) again although the tread life is nowhere as good as the Contis. Some have had the Proxes S/T with good results although I suspect they're still not as good as the Diamaris.
