How many miles are on the car? Maybe drive shaft is slipping in the splines?

most commonly the front drive shaft is slipping inside the transfer case. At my shop, I replace the front driveshaft with the 1" longer version from Cobra Transmissions. It is $400 cheaper than the original design, and is built to prevent this failure. If you continue to drive with this noise, there is a possibilty that the transfer case will also need to be rebuilt.

it is the 1" longer you mentioned previously. Thanks for your help. Anything else you recommend me replacing while doing this? i.e.. Flex disks?

I've noticed a similar sound under the same situation. Is there way to confirm it's the front drive shaft?
