Late to respond, being on vacation...

Independent shops I know are in the $100/hr range.

Even my barber doesn't work for $30/hr.

Good luck.

Bacic crap like oil cganges fuel filter teanny service plugs ect. Just dint have the time myself. Yea jcl $100 is too steep. Might just jet the service manual and take it to any local shop hopefully they don't bitch about workin on bmws I used to get that all the time on my vw no one would touch it cause they didn't have the tools. Where can I dl the service manual for a 05x5? I can't believe u guys paying $100 hr to get stuff like oilchanges brakes suspension work done.

Service manual is published by Bentley, you can buy it in several locations.

Jessel BMW in Vancouver offer an oil change with OE oil and filter for $148 for the 4.4. Labour is 15% off and parts are 10% off for you, as your vehicle is 6 years old. That qualifies it for the BMW heritage program. Congrats, it is almost vintage!

I don't use any Independent shops myself, the vehicles are either new and under warranty and maintenance programs, or I do it myself.

For oil I grab the oil filter myself and pay $10-$20 to most shops to do it. But other stuff I'd like to find a shop that knows euros BMW ect that is in the $40-$60 hr range. The air filters u can do myself. But jobs like tranny service brakes suspension cv joints ect I'm need to find someone as I don't have the time myself

Sounds like you own a vehicle that costs more you maintain than you can afford. (actually sounds more like you are just cheap) Time to get something you can afford to drive. I could give you a bicycle... But those tires are eventually going to wear out.

Those shops that are too expensive are that way because they have the training, tools, and experience to repair these vehicles. They have to pay rent, insurance, subscriptions, business licenses, BAR fees, the list goes on. And they personally and their employees need to eat, pay their mortgages, you know live.

I can afford prob more than u think however I don't want to throw away my money. I also need to pay for mortgage bills food ect and savings. I cant really use a bicycle for long trips and how did I know u where gonna chime in again with another unhelpfull response FACEPALM again
