No problem. Now get it changed, get it filled and drive it like you stole it!

I concur with the mob.

I would undo the oil filter housing cap and check that the o-ring is properly seated. If the ring is damaged, just go buy a filter from the local auto parts store and use the new o-ring provided with it. That should work until you can get around to changing the oil out. Also, I would only use an OE filter when you actually change the oil. Don't forget to top off the oil as awell as it looks like a significant amount may have already leaked out.

Edit: Damn you guys were fast. Beat me to it with a few posts in a matter of minutes.

I had no idea the 4.6is had the OFH in that location. The 4.8is has the filter underneath...

M62 motor had the OFH in that location across the entire M62TU44B line. When the '04 came out, BMW sunk in a N62 Valvetronic and the OFH is located under the motor.

Romeokc10...too bad you are in California. I have only seen one other 4.6 in Memphis in the Blue...sorry I don't know the technical color.

Since everyone gave me such a hard time on not knowing that this was a filter, you will be happy to know I got it changed out and the ring replaced. Since I was under the hood I went ahead and detailed it out.

Now to get the bags ordered from Arnott.

Thanks,

Shawn
