When mine quit, it started making noise, then wouldn't spin. If I put the AC on MAX and smacked the dash with the bottom of my fist, it would often get it moving again. I swapped in a known good FSR and it was definitely the blower; the brushes were just toast, not much left of them. Just take your time, and be methodical. The only tricky bit is unlatching the front edge of the center console without breaking the tabs. While I had it apart, I replaced the ignition switch, and added strips of dynamat and/or felt to anything that might rattle. Here's a photo for inspiration.
Great shot Scott, thank you. It looks like you did not have to pull the center console out, only loosened and pulled back?

That's correct; there are about a dozen screws that hold it in place, and a weird U bracket under the flasher switch. I seem to recall that the forward edge of the console has to be unclipped/released from the base of the dash in order to get the dash out. There are two or three tabs that hold it together.
