Electronics Help

Got back my 2005 X5 from the dealer 2 weeks ago... bunch of parts replaced... brakes etc... All mechanical parts though.

Right away, I noticed that a few pixels on the stereo read-out were dead (there were 2 dead pixels prior.. now there seem to be 10-12). Also, this morning, the buttons on the steering wheel to change the FM channels stopped working.

What could be wrong? Is this something the dealer could have done?

Oddly enough I'm having the same issue after attempting to install an aftermarket HU and amp. Lost the iBus communication for the Multi-functional steering wheel, interior turn signal flashers, rear back up lights, etc. INPA says no communication and just as my luck would have it, the software for DIS didn't load correctly and won't connect.

You probably need to get your ride hooked up to a GT1 and see if you're still communicating through iBus to the various modules it handles.

Good Luck!

Big J, make sure your voltage is above 12.3v when trying to connect. If you are below, DIS will say all sorts of random shit. I confirmed this yesterday with 2 e53s.
