I cannot connect the dots.
I mean, say the light come on and sets a code for an oxygen sensor heater or whatever, why is it helpful to know that there are codes for the secondary air injection system?
I'm not trying to give you a hard time but he said:

I am in new territory looking to make friends who know more than I do about my new vehicle.

Thank you all
So, give him a break. It would be like having a Chiltons manual. Its nice to have more than you need at the time. Like for reference. Maybe he wants to research what possible problems his X5/BMWs might have.

The reason doesn't really matter. The guy is new and reaching out to the community. Questions don't always have to be put exactly like how WE want, how WE expect it or how WE would understand it.

Again man, not trying to be hard on you. Just saying his reason(s) are no biggie. I think he just simply wanted to know out of curiosity.

Thanks for being patient with me bro - you are a nice guy. I can see who will help and who won't and I am grateful to you

Well, I try to look out for people as I was new once too. Nobody is perfect and noone needs to be either.

Same goes for this great community. Just like we will try not to be too harsh on new people, try not to be too harsh on the repliers - now and in the future.

This community is great because of so many people from all walks of life. We can learn from each other. Sometimes we will all not agree and that's okay. That's life. We can just try to be civil about it.

Okay .. off my soapbox!

I hear you. I see it's a great community which is why I am posting. I am actually a Moderator on a Post Production forum. There are members that just love trolling / starting arguments / telling noobies to "Read The F***ing Manual and don't ask such stupid questions" = not helping anyone. I enjoy helping people because I know how hard it is for someone to ask for help - putting themselves out there with a question that YOU KNOW someone will think is "stupid" and slam them for it.

Thanks man - you are appreciated
