extra transmission fluid found when checking its level

I have replaced the heat exchanger involving the lost of about half a cup of tea which was contained in it. When checking the transmission fluid level for topping at 41 degree celcius (starting the car and moving lever between P, N & D) another half a cup of tea popped out from the tranny fill opening.

What are the consequences when a tranny contains an excess amount of oil?
