The Parking button at the top is non-functioning and does not suppress. Likewise the side button does not function or suppress when pushed.

On top of that, the "+" and "-" signs for the steptronic are backwards on the illuminated model for the E53.....Bummer.

the "+" and "-" on that shifter coincide with 4.6 and 4.8 iS pattern, which is opposite from normal E53

xsx, I'll keep my eye out for you. I looked on eBay for about 4 months for the trim until I finally found it.
Always down for a meet up. We should try to gauge interest for other Bay Area members and plan something.

Term, you are correct. I was quite pleased when I saw that.

i wonder, if there is a such a thing as heated shifter... like the heated steering wheel, seats... with the wiring feeding onto the shifter, now it might be possible to somehow create a heated shifter... not sure how it will look or work, just being curious...

I would have thought they were the same! I was always under the impression that pull to upshift and push to down shift was the "correct" orientation as it coincides with the momentum of the vehicle? Of all the X models I would have expected this to be the case, especially in the 4.6 & 4.8's. Weird!

I'd be all over the heated shifter idea!

i guess it comes from the position of the 3rd gear on the manual transmission - it is towards the front of the car, and i mentally equate the downshifting with going into 3rd gear (being the most aggressive)... i could be wrong though...

I'm going to order a few small items from here. The roundel protectors in matte black, and the CF key covers. Since shipping is $10 regardless of how small the items are... Does anyone else want some small stuff? If I order it all then I can throw it in an envelope and ship to you for under $1 rather than $10.
