your CD changer somehow walked off on you... the module on the picture, that is going down vertivcally is the DSP module. the module that is going down at an angle is a Assist module which might be also a Bluetooth module... that portion needs to be tested...

if you have wetness downthere (it did not souind right!!!!) you might want to dry it up, and then check for the corroded wires - that is the best case scenario... the worst case - something got fried on the component level at the modules, which means, the modules will have to be replaced...

but... one thing at a time...dry it up first, try to find the source of water leak...

also, from the picture, i see some aftermarket interference - i see two taps in some wires, and non-factory wires... what is it?

And the bracket that used to hold the CD changer is gone too... or at least, I can't make it out on the picture...

you might want to trace that wire tap, just to see what it is all about - it could be someone tried to install something, say ipod interface, and that is where our issue is at... or, it could be nothing at all...

keep us posted, even though not too many people interject into the convo, a lot of people are reading - and they are waiting for the resolution...

I havent had a chance to do anything else with it yet, but there is obviously water getting in. it was below freezing here on Monday night and when i went out yesterday morning, an icicle had formed underneath this location in the rear. About midday I was leaving a parking lot and noticed a wet spot on the pavement from where I was parked coming from the same area. So I need to figure out how water is getting in there asap.

check the sunroof drains... if you have an air compressor, try to blow into the holes, see if anything comes out... also, seltzer was used to reassure the passage of water..

the drains are in the rear, when the top hatch is open, next to hinges you will 2 rectangular holes (might be covered by a plastic flap) in the body of the car...

Update on the loss of sound. A friend of mine pulled the DSP, it was corroded very badly from the water intrusion. But he was able to clean it up and it still works! He resealed everything so hopefully no more water in it. As to where the water is coming in, the only possibility I could find is maybe a rubber boot in the "gutter" underneath the hatch. We will seal that with some black silicone and see if that works. Thanks again for your help.
