Adaptive Xenon Headlight Issue When Turning

I have a 2005 X5 4.4i that has the xenon adaptive headlights. Within the past few weeks the right front xenon headlight has started to flicker on & off when the steering wheel is turned and the lights are in adaptive mode. If the headlights are in manual mode the headlights work perfectly. There are no issues with left headlight. I have switched the bulb & ignitors from one side to the other but problem remains on right side. When steering wheel is turned to the right the headlight will either cut out for a brief moment or stay out completely until steering wheel is turned and then it will come back on. This happens every time the wheel is turned. Any suggestions on what is causing the headlight to lose power intermittently when wheel is turned?

Sounds like a connection problem. As the projector turns, it is snagged on a wire suppling power. Examine the headlamp thoroughly and check all the wiring.

Wait, adaptive headlights isn't on all the time? I didn't even know that... is it only on when the headlights are in auto on/off mode? I just leave it in auto mode, so I've never noticed.

And I agree, sounds like a bad connection. You should probably keep it in manual mode until it's fixed - xenon lights don't do well with flickering on and off quickly.

Yes...revelation has come! Adaptive head lights only work when the switch is in the automatic headlight position.
