140 Output Thermostat Map cooling error in INPA

I have read the forums and when most people recieved this error the solution was to reaplce the thermostat. I used did that and still see the error. This is what I get from INPA. Any ideas?

The thermostat has a heating element in it. Check the impedance, I think it should be about about 12 ohms. If you have GT1 there is procedure to follow to identify the problem but it looks to me that the circuit is open to the heating element.

Thanks, I will check the impedance next. Maybe I got a faulty one. Is GT1 the same as DIS?

That's right. DIS is the software where GT1 is the system running DIS software BMW used until recently.

I used a multi meter while the engine was cold and got 12.1 ohms, I beleive it is suppose to be 15 ohms. If that is the case then the thermostat is bad. Last time I use aftermarket oem if that is the case.

15 ohms should be ok. The computer will look for a close circuit.
Use DIS and follow the steps in the Mao cooling error or connect a light bulb on the connector instead the heating element and see if the error comes back.
Do you have any symptoms other than the INPA code?

It is reading 12 ohms not 15. My laptop is having problems so I cant run DIS right now. I hope 12 ohms means that I need to replace the thermostat.
