Problem is im burning oil for a while now, overconsumption, and from the research ive done it leads my to somethings wrong with the ccv's. My symptoms are basically as follows: once car is warmed up to temp oil starts warming up, idle at a longer stoplight or leave the car running and go into the gas station to grab something, once i pull away and i hit around 2k rpm i release a big puff of blueish/grayish smoke, and next symptom as i said before i need to add oil more then i should. So this leads me to, should i bother trying any cleaning? And what parts exactly do i need to replace, from my research ive found the ccvs are located under the covers on both sides of the engine in the 4.8 correct? Ive kind of neglected this issue for a month or so, but i need to fix it now and stop procrastinating, plus it makes the car look like a 60s beater pulling away from a light like that during the day. Thanks

I typed 3 words... "BMW N62 CCV" and got this video:
BMW CCV Replacement on N62 8 Cylinder Engine - YouTube And if you need to order/buy them...there is a repair kit you can purchase. If you click the following link...you can get the 11 digit BMW part nbr for the repair kit (#13 in the diagram below)...you can then type "BMW xx xx x xxx xxx" (where x = bmw part nbrs) into a google search box to find vendors that sell the repair kit...or take that nbr to your local BMW dealership:

Wow thanks so much for that youtube link, the posts I've read before made it sound more of a pain then this actually looks like. And what you came across and i came across has to do with the keywords we used, i never searched by engine code, so i wouldn't have come across that.
All i really need is that rebuild kit for $20 each? Doesn't say it comes in pairs or anything so $40 total. So as long as it is the ccv's this should be my issue?

The N62 CCV is so much easier to deal with than the CCV on the M62 engine. The older M62 CCV job is on the back side of the engine near the firewall.
If the CCV is your issue, you'll probably see that one or both of them have a split or torn membrane (the orange thingy once the cover is removed). Another tip: I hear that a paint can opener makes a really great tool for removing the cover. The little curled end (that lifts the paint can lid) helps to lift as well as separate the cover. These can be picked up for about a dollar at any hardware store like Lowes/HomeDepot (or any place that sells paint) if you don't already have one. ![]()

I have replied to countless threads on this issue. Go to my profile and look at all of my posts. Pay close attention to the ones about smoke at idle and ccv. Its a cheap and easy fix and one you will likely do at every other oil change so make sure you know how to do it without a mechanic.

Are you talking about their recommended oil changes of every 15k miles or normal intervals.
I would never plan on running oil that long, im going to change it at MAX maybe 6kish on this car just because it holds more oil then my other ones which i still use full syn and do them every 4.5-5k.
