HEY GUYS!!!!!!!!!! So i was told by the bmw tech i work with that theres no way way really that my valve seals should be worn unless i heated and overheated and over heated again and again and stuff like that. He said that on the N62 engines sometimes the Vacuum pump turns into an oil pump. You can check it by unplugging the hose from it and seeing if its oily. because some o ring inside goes bad.

I opened my Vac pump up today and yeah theres oil in there which i guess its supposed to be in there for lubrication, sadly i couldnt get to the oring/seal becaue it didnt look like that exact part came apart. Also it seemed like the black "thing" (theres a plastic blade inside that spins) didnt even get close enough to the walls when spining so maybe vacuum pump is worn.

Please post more on this or where is that pump?

I have a hard time believing my seals are shot at 68k, i really believe either something is still clogged or broke causing it to suck in oil at idle... Especially cause it only does it when the engine/oil are hot meaning the ecu can be activating some ccv or vacum pump and something clogged is causing it bringing oil to the intake.

When its cold i can idle it for 3 minutes and i wont get any smoke... When its hot, just a minute or so and it already lets out a puff upon accel.

Im lucky where i live all i have are long stop lights and no traffic... I was just in long island today and got caught in a 20 min slow stretch of basically idleing, i was in my other other car but hell it would probably smoke real bad or flood or something if it was the x5

You're right. How about a compression test? If rings, will be easy detected. Like you said, when cold, there's not oil puf, but when oil heated, its thin like water and passing by really small places up, no?

pezho405,

I have read some things about that pump and how it just produces vacuum for the break booster. How can it be creating our mystical blue smoke of that is all it is doing for us?

Here is the o-ring kit they do not sell at the stealership and claim " it is not made"

If it looks like it's leaking and the kit to fix the o-rings is only $17, why not change it out and let all of us inquiring minds know if that's another one of BM*'s secret million dollar fixes
