GX 460 - Thoughts?
I have had 05 BMW x5 4.8is for a while now and it's been pretty good with very few issues (recently soft close stopped working ), however i have around 82K and am thinking if i should trade it in for something else...I am scared about transmission or engine issues (thought i have not had any issue yet or any indication of an issue so far). I did test drive GX 460 and it did not seem that bad (I went in thinking it would be a turd to drive, but infact it was'nt that bad) however since i did not have an extended drive i wanted to check with the members here if they have any experience with the Lexus GX series in general and how will they hold up compared to an X5, i did like the interior of the GX, drive was ok but did'nt push it to the limits so not sure. Anyone moved from X5 to GX? please let me know your thoughts. (BTW i do have an old 325xit which has been super so far which i intend to keep till it dies) Thanks. |

Update:
Looked at the Lexus GX/RX...also drove their cars as i wanted to see how they were...ES, their interior looks pretty good and drive was'nt bad...... Soft Close on the X5 has been fixed now...dealer good willed labour and had to pay for part only. So last weekend i drove it a lil hard on CT15 following an audi...i fell in love all over again with my 4.8is and i think i will keep it till i have a major issue...engine or transmission (both of which work great for now) |

Interesting you want to move from a 4.8is to a gx...
4.8 is top of the line, sport, and a road purpose suv only and drivers car. Lexus is more geared to luxury and comfort, and not as sporty.

I've driven a couple different Lexus models here and there...I have yet to get behind the wheel of one that even comes close to the driving dynamics of a BMW. I find the steering on most Lexus models to feel overly artificial.

My Brother, or should I say his wife has the Lx? the big one, and I can say that even tho the X is a smaller rig, there is way more leg room in the back and is much more comfortable. X5 anyday over the Lexus. |
