An '01? Most likely it's worn out rear suspension components or over inflation as stated above

Did you get a print out when your alignment was done ?
That showed your before and after *aka-the alignment results*.

SP Sport Maxx have a 240 tread wear rating which is on the low side and they are "max performance" Summer tires (read: great grip, lousy wear). Assuming that these are what you are running, it certainly doesn't help the situation.

Notably, these tires don't have any tread wear warranty at all.

If the rating on the OP's tires are 240, they are going to wear fairly quickly even if everything else is OK. However, like others have said, check your tire pressure and suspension components. It would also be very helpful if you knew the alignment settings. Incorrect toe can cause excessive wear.

I thought about this and given that the wear is in the centerline and does not indicate excessive toe-in or toe-out, but over inflation, you may not be aware of how much pressure you are using.

Do you use a guage at all when filling the tires or do you eyeball it?

Are you referencing your tire inflation guidelines on your driver's door and are you taking the tire size and speed rating into consideration?

Are you relying on the built in pressure guage at the gas station that you go to? It might be totally off and it's time to buy your own guage?

If you have a guage, maybe it's off and you need to compare it to another guage.

Personally, I would never run Max Performance Summer tires in an SUV (or SAV), but that's just me. Find tires in with a wear rating in the neighborhood of 400/480/500+. Or get used changing your tires more often than you change your oil.

But that's just one man's opinion.

No expert here and I agree that center wear makes me think it could be over inflated as well, but if toe is excessive, it seems like it would exacerbate the issue. In other words, overinflation + excessive toe = extreme tire wear.

Completely agree with you regarding the Max Performance tires on an SUV.
