Timing Chain Guide Replacement--$300
I'm nearly done with my timing chain guide and tensioner replacement on my 2000 4.4!
I'm an aircraft mechanic so I never take anything apart that isn't totally necessary. I only removed the fan shroud, fan, and all the stuff attached to the timing cover. I took the valve covers off obviously but that's it. The truck was running fine when I started so I only replaced the guides themselves and didn't even replace the chains or remove them. They only have 127K on them anyway and look really beefy.
Total cost is around $300 for the guides and tensioner and a couple of gaskets and o-rings.
