I'm having this problem too. The auto lights used to work fine then all of a sudden they didn't. If I leave them on auto in the dark they come on for about 10-15 seconds then go out and then will come back on after about 30 seconds. Weird. I'll go and check the sensor to see if it's dirty, but does it means it's still working but it needs calibration or just 'checking'?

What is the green LED doing next to your headlamp switch when AUTO mode is selected? Only asking in case you also have "adaptive" headlights and a possible issue with that feature.
As you can see in the page from the owners manual...the automatic headlamp's sensitivity can be adjusted (obviously with BMW DIS/GT-1 or aftermarket hardware/software previously mentioned): ![]()

I don't have a green LED next to mine, however there are bubbles if you look from the outside at the unit. What are the steps to rectifying this?

RLS / LCM issue auto lights go out for 10 sec then on after 1 min
I have the same automatic headlights issue. My auto headlights go on when the car starts then turn off after 10 seconds, then turn on again after 1 minute. Once they are on I can cover the sensor in daylight and the lights turn on, so I believe the sensor is working. Any suggestions on getting the sensor to re-initialize without going to the dealer.
