well, other than the coolness factor, this thing is a bit overrated... the VR is good to dial numbers when you are on the highway, you say dial name, then say the name and it dials... dialing numbers is not so easy, you say dial a number, the say out loud the digits, and the freaking thing messes up, so you have to start over again.. and changing scale - by the time you complete the task, it is easier and faster to reach out and change it...

so, you still have the best functions without the bloatware... just program the names and numbers you dial the most and you should be good...

Yeah...and don't forget your favorite carry out joints...like for me... Papa Johns Pizza ... Wacky Wednesday you can get ANY pizza in ANY size for $9.99 (always xtra large since it's the same price). If I feel like pizza on Wednesdays...I just press the button when I'm leaving work, and say "call name"...{VR - say name}..."Papa John's Waynedale" {VR - call Papa John's Waynedale?}..."yes"...{VR - calling number}. No need to retain their number in my head...I got enough stupid stuff pacing around in my noggin.

Got my favorite Chinese take out, burger place, and BBQ rib joint programmed into VR, too.

speaking of Papa Johns.. i used to call in for specials, and then learned that if i do it on line, i earn the points (already earned and used up enough for 8-9 pizzas so far), and i can enter coupons that are not available over the phone...

so... i need a computer with internet access in the car... mod bug just bit me again!!!!

Just to clarify...only press & hold the button no longer than approx 2 seconds (count 1000, 2000, release). Then you should hear the VR "tone"...which then you would say a command. This of course is if you have the VR option.

you have 2005 model, so it probably does apply to you... but...

in older models, where there was a dedicated plug for the VR module and the BT did not have a VR function, if you were to install a newer BT with VR built-in, you needed to plug off that dedicated plug with 84320144246 in order to make the VR from the BT to operate...

check to see if you have a (blue) plug hovering in your left area of the trunk... also, look up the part number for your BT module, so we can figure out, what generation BT you have...

What have you already tried? That way we don't make redundant suggestions that you know didn't work for you. And it may help if you tell us which brand of phone you have & which BMW set-up you have (Nav or MID).

Someone reading your post may have the same phone/same audio set-up and has gone thru the same issue...thus would know exactly what to tell you...especially if raising the volume of received calls requires accessing some type of preference in your phone's BT settings.

Since the call is heard through the speakers of the vehicle...the obvious would be to turn the VOL knob up for which ever audio set-up you have (Nav? MID?).

chances are, you need to try the regular volume controls while on active call... some phones allow for the volume control via the phone itself... depending on the phone, you might be able to transfer your phonebook to the car, read the SMS on the car's monitor, make voice calls... some phone will not allow any of those functions... my older phones allowed me to read the SMS on the nav screen... the newer ones had issues when the screen was locked out...

Sorry, I have NAV with DSP, and my phone is a Samsung Note 2. I did the obvious and turned the volume up while on a call but there was no increase in the volume from the speakers. My Bluetooth volume on the phone is on MAX and while driving with the windows up I can hardly here the conversation. That's about all I did so far!
