I know this is a old thread, but I just found this and thought I'd share it:

BMW 320 525 TDS Touring Heckscheibenwischer E46 M3 entfernen - Heckwischerabdeckung, Blindstopfen, Kappe, Glasstopfen, De-wiper, Plug, Grommet, Cap

I might just get one myself

I got my cap for free from this company that manufactures plastics, all they require is for you to register on their website and you can order free samples! (mine came 2 in a pack)

You want the button plug with flush type head, size 1 1/8"
www.caplugs.com

Will post up pics this weekend of my rear window when the X is clean, makes a much cleaner difference in the rear!

The great thing about the glass plugs is that they're made out of real glass, so they have the same surface as the rest of the rear window. Reflections will also be near identical with the surrounding glass, as they're painted on the back (like the original glass). Plastic could never do that.
They are also exactly the same thickness as the original glass, so the plug is totally flush with the window.

I've seen this on a couple of VW's, and it looks really really clean!

I deleted the roof rails about 2 months ago using the black plugs. I have a black X so they don't show that much unless you are over 6 ft. tall. I have had one person notice the plugs (they had owned a 4.6) and they didn't notice the rails were gone. I have gone to Dallas cars and coffee twice--no notice of plugs or rail delete. I can see the change in the profile but it is not enough for onlookers to figure out why. The biggest difference is there is nothing to hold onto when I clean the roof.

You either don't get around to washing your X much or you must live 10 miles down an unpaved road-you are close to someone writing wash me on it.

Haha, that's basically the only reason I kept mine on there for now! (although I may delete someday)

I think X's with lowered stances look good with the roof rails deleted, for example your 4.6 is sport equipped so its slightly lower than base E53's. I may delete mine someday as its low enough in my eyes to pull off, but I also have other mods to do. I think the X definitely has to have some other exterior mods though, like the iS spoilers, etc. Deleting the roof racks on an otherwise stock car with stock 17's, 18's etc it kinda looks like something is missing, just my opinion though.

However, I love the look right now with the rear wiper delete and roof rails equipped, from the rear the X looks so clean.

Mine is lowered with H&R kit as well. I use the rear when it is raining. I like to see out the back using rear view especially on the tollway. I decided it was too functional even though it doesn't rain much here.

I've always had to make my own plugs from the local hardware store which includes plastic welding bolts to the back of plastic plugs, rubber washers, metal washers... Just an overall pain in my ass. Hopefully those freebie plugs work great. Thanks for the helpful tip. BTW this 6 speed X5 is a blast to drive
