Are you collecting those classics? Do show.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
I think I win the award for drives the X the least amount on this forum lol, since I've been maintaining and fixing things on and off for the past 1.5 years, and my wife's car does all the grunt work/dog hauling.

Bought at 59k December 2011, sits at 68,414 as of yesterday...

Prop she is looking good! So if I'm getting this right you still have your stock 168's but decided since the tires were shot you'd mount them on so you didn't shred up your good tires on the 20" 132's?

Yeah.. pretty close. Here's how it went from day 1 (or like day 14)
  • I put the new tires from the dealership on the 20" 132's just over two years ago- and about 20k miles.
  • Since I ran the 132's on my 3.0 and the tires were still pretty good, I swapped those tires onto the stock 168's.
  • The 168's sat in storage with the fairly good tires until the 132 rears just weren't going to last on a 24 hour road trip.
    • It was our 15th anniversary this year, and my lovely bride requested the equivalent of about 1/2 a used 4.8is with insanely low miles... for her finger.
    • I should add that she has humbly displayed the simple gold band since our union so long ago. It and my $6 silver band were always a nice reminder of where we started- and that we've never been much for silly things like wedding rings.
    • She's a good girl and she puts up with my car madness, so....
  • So, I felt it prudent to run as much time between really expensive tire replacement as possible- I mounted the stock 168's.
It was only THEN that I noticed how light and spry the X5 is with less unsprung weight. I didn't have ANY idea it would help my gas mileage.

Am I in the minority if I feel e30 > 2002?

Yes, really.

While the video was good, it showcased a car that never existed. Plus half of what made that car special was borrowed from the e30.

Don't get me wrong. I can appreciate the 2002 for what it is and was, but I have never felt a tug of the heart strings to personally own one. Of course it is a great, iconic car, but it's just not my thing. That shouldn't be taken as a slam on the car in general, though.

Besides the e9, there really isn't any BMW produced before the e28 and e30 that does much for me. I much prefer models from the late 1980's thru early 2000's.

Sorry OP, didn't mean to thread jack. Your e53 looks amazing. I always loved that color.
