I have an appeal into the Total Loss Department. Allstate has a group called CCC1 that does their total loss calculation and it is usually way low. They are trying to make their customer (Allstate) happy with not spending a lot of money.

CCC1 had a class action lawsuit for 20-30% values too low. They came to court handed out a 35 million dollar check and left not claiming any responsibility. They are pure scum.

I am in between what do to for the vehicle, but this could be the way into a newer vehicle.

I'm trying to understand things here based on my CA experiences and knowledge. The Insurance company in question here is YOUR insurance company? As in they are the ones you have a policy with?

If so, they should Honor the car's current Retail Value on the market. You need to grab hold of a few ads for similar cars in the condition your car was in prior to the accident. Show at least 3 - 5 cars in the price range you are seeking.

Additional, before taking any money from them, ask them to provide you with your Policy's Maximum Limits of Liability on that car. Most Insurance companies will refuse and say you are not privy... hold your ground and tell them there will be no settlement till that is provided to you.

I got hit in the rear early last month and the body shop was so strict to use OEM they had to order in the right-side muffler from Germany. The shop had my X for almost two weeks but they did an excellent job replacing and repainting the rear bumper; indeed looks better than before. The bill came to $2,500 that of course was paid by the other driver's insurance.

Congrats on owning your "Panzer" for 8 years, I could seriously see myself driving mine for that long but would sure hate to see her "totaled" over such an unfortunate mishap. I hope Allstate comes through on this for you.

Liability would be for a vehicle I hit. This is a comprehensive claim.

BT, isn't your X higher mileage? Maybe the $6,100 isn't too far off.

I would then think about buying it back, throw a fender and headlight on there, buff out the rest of the damage the best you can, and keep driving it as a daily driver.

Adds character, right?

I have them up to $6700. Now the line is being drawn on where they want to consider it a total loss. 65% instead of 75%

I am awaiting that break down

Its the front right panel, bumper, hood, and headlight

Last I recall it was $5200 with OEM. But they were pricing 1 headlight at $1200. I told them that was a bit off...

I am in a Vicious Circle of dumb dicks.

Ask them what the proposed Salvage value is. I once picked up a 98K 750iL with rear damage for $1700.
