Any thoughts on this suspenison issue:

When I had the PPI done this came up-

Issue: CHECK SUSPENSION- SELF LEVELING LIGHT IS ON
(Air Suspension Control Module has an internal fault showing no movement for the right rear suspension)

Sorry no code listed witht the report: dealer recommends "Replace faulty control module and code to vehicle"

(The Beast will be delivered to my mechanic on Monday so I thought if I had to order something I should do it now....Any help gratefully appreciated!)

Thanks,

Frank

Frank without knowing what exact code you are throwing or any other diagnostics of the vehicle it's hard to tell you what needs fixing. The control module for the air suspension is 700 bucks for 2 axle, and needs to be coded, so if its not coming out of your pocket then no big deal, but it could also be a leaking bag, burnt out compressor, or ride height sensor.

RB- Thanks for the feedback-
Here is what I know thusfar- (My GF picked it up from seller and dropped it of at our mechanic (he owns a similar vintage) but they haven't had time to code it yet but....
Ride Height Selection switch in-op...nothing, no lights blinking or otherwise (I was on FaceTime with her when she checked it) plus no movement up or down. Self-leveling warning light came on also but that was it.

They can hook it up to INPA and diagnose the fault code, then go from there.
I had it happeedn one time with the 4.8iS. Turn out it's the battery (we know it needs to be replaced base on the PPI) I clear the fault code after replacing the battery and all is good.

Ok Guys need your help with diagnosis of this issue: Attached is a photo of her as she sits after 4 new tires- It seems much lower to me than from when it was picked up the other day prior to new tires. I have yet to drive it (still in Saudi) so what I'm looking for is the following:

What sort of checklist can I run prior to taking it to the dealer (which is 3 hours away)

(we should have a sticky with a check list and symptomatic indicator(s))

What and where are the associated fuses

What low tech assessments can I use to suss out what is going on i.e. Pump Noises.

How can I tell that the pump is working (I am going to remote assess this with my GF tonight so any tips greatly appreciated)

Has this been set up (coded) to ride like this?

I’m unclear as to why it would sit at one height then lower after tires installed…any thoughts?

As always, Thanks in Advance!

Frank

When the tires were installed the car was probably put on a lift, which extended the suspension. Maybe something on a sensor snapped or the sensor went bad or a release valve is stuck open... Or maybe it's a blown bag.

My X5 only has air springs on the back, so I don't know if your pump setup is the same or not, but when the pump is running on mine it is very quiet. When having your GF help you diagnose, have her pop the rear hatch open and lift the floor to see if the pump is running. If the pump is running constantly, I would think that would be a sign that a release valve is stuck open and the pump can't keep up with the escaping air.

Do you have a Bentley manual? I have one, but it's at home and I'm at work for the next ~9hrs; pretty sure there's a troubleshooting checklist in there. Maybe someone else can help with that too.

I'd try to raise and lower it with the button and see if the system work. If it does, the ride height might just need to be calibrated.
It can be driven at that height. Look about the same height as my iS after 1" lowered.

More specifically it does not adjust the height.
