amp

hi, i hope someone can help with this problem. i have a 2001 4.4 x5 and the sound from the audio system doesn't work. everything else works. cd changer, satnav, radio & steering wheel controls, just no sound. i have checked the amp by plugging in a house speaker into the plug connector nearest the camera and sound is coming out. i assume that this is the feed from the head unit. i plugged the speaker into the other 2 connectors but nothing coming out of these. is there any other way to check it, or is it broke?
i also tried to remove it by removing the 4 screws around the top, but it would not come out. where are the other bolts holding it in?
sorry about the quality of the picture.

any advice welcome. thanks

There's a thread around somewhere (maybe in the articles/tips and tricks section) that has a legend for the amp outputs. It's may be of some use to you in order to find the amp outputs.

As for the removal of the amp, the easiest way, IIRC, is to remove that vertical plate it sits on. There are 2 nuts along the bottom, and another along the side. It's been years since I tossed my amp, so you may also want to use realOEM's diagrams as a bit of a roadmap....

update : i bought a secondhand amp and put it in today today. all is working. i did find a thread on here on how to remove it eventually (i had to remove the plastic tray section in the spare wheel well to get better access). Quite an easy job from start to finish.
thanks for the help.

Next time it rains in Jolly Old England, check the amp cubby hole. Water seepage into the truck and collects in the amp well is a well known problem with the truck and a cause for blown amps.
