window regulator replacement

My passenger-side window is stuck in the "down" position. The window regulator replacement instructions start with, "Raise the window 5 inches, to align the retention clips with the holes in the regulator, so the bolts can be removed, and the glass removed." With a non-operating regulator, I can't raise the window, and I can't get to the bolts through the clips. How to proceed? HELP!

And, THANK YOU!!!

Did you already take off the door panel? Does the motor try to raise the window when you press the buttor?(is it making noise like its trying?) I would assist it by pushing on the window at the same time.

Theres many different situations that could happened in there, so its kinda hard to explain without fully understanding.

I have the same exact issue every time I have to replace my regulators. The only way I was able to raise the window is to cut the steel cables on the regulator. Afterwards, I was able to scoot the window up and down the tracks manually.

If you can't assit the motor in getting the window to correct position to take the bolt out, the only option I'm aware of is cutting the cable, it shouldn't matter as you will be replacing the regulator anyway!

Yes, that's the conclusion I came to. But, it was the motor that didn't work. Didn't turn when I applied the "up" or "down" signal to it. But, if I could have gotten it apart without cutting the cable, I would have saved about $110, by re-using the old regulator assembly.

Thanks for your help!
