Question $99.99 alternator?

So my 2003 x5 3.0 has a developed a severe whine from the alternator looks like bearings are going (has gotten worse). So i search online and found this site.

AlternatorPros > Compare and buy

as stated on their site:

No Hassle Warranty (2 Years Included)
2003 BMW X5 3.0L Alternator

BUILT IN THE USA

OPTIONS:
120 Amp Bosch Unit

TECH SPECS:
120amp Bosch Unit - QULAITY REMANUFACTURED OEM UNITS

its rebuilt and i dont mind....as my first lasted only 2.5 years (replaced under warranty) from bmw had just bought her brand new.

but 100 Bucks really?:wow

its so cheap ill take the plunge just to test for fellow members but wanted to see if anyone has dealt with them yet.

The 40 is for core which you get back so I did not count that in the price.

I tend to agree, if the time/money/what have you doesn't bother you then why not? It's not like you are putting it in someone else s vehicle and making them live with your experiment. Plus I like the fact that you are willing to take one for the team and give it a whirl.

well, its just with some research ive found other people in other cars have used this brand....and no problems. Now ive also done the research and bearings will cost me ($30 bucks plus ill need new burshes (10-15 bucks) and hell its old so i should think about replacing the regulator (40 bucks roughly with burshs) so.... for me as a customer ill spend roughly 60-70 buck for a rebuild and 100 isnt so bad considering it has 2yr warranty....

Ill post back once i get it with pics and comparison with oem unit etc and we will see how it is.
