Squeaky sound? You better not wait.....

I'm glad I didn't wait until it disappears itself, because it'll NEVER go. It turns out to be a head-snapped belt tensioner center bolt.

Initial symptom: metal clicking sound (bolt head jumping around), and then, squeaky sound (belt edge scratching), then LOUDER and LOUDER.

At first I thought it was just the belt, because it disappears after 1000 RPM. Only happen at idle or very low speed. Last night, took it apart, wholy sh!t, tensioner almost fell off. So this morning, pick up a bolt from a dealer ($5), and install it on. Whalaa!!!!

Just wanna share with you guys, cuz the folks on this forum are the best!

Happy weekend!!!

glad to hear it was a fix that ended up being not costly and not catastrophic!

you gonna trust that belt now? its been riding on the edge and looks frayed...I give a couple months before it tosses the front loop and it hangs on something and rips through the rest of the belt.

did you spin the tensioner any and test wobble/wiggle on it? with all the pressure from the belt on the front I can only imagine the load put on the front side of the non-serviceable bearings in it. I mean hell, if there's enough force to shear the bolt head off...imagine the tensioner bearings taking it all after the tensioner falls forward like that after the bolt head fails.

He's right, for an extra 50 bucks I'd probably get a new tensioner and belt just for peace of mind
