CD Changer questions

Looks like our CD changer is shot. It won't recognize that it has CDs in it anymore. I been trying to find a replacement but I'm confused on which part numbers will actually work with it. We have DSP and some for sale say that it will not work with DSP. I'd also like to find one that plays MP3 disks too but I can't track down what part number that is....

I have a CD changer that I don't use anymore since I went with a Grom. My truck has the DSP so it has the connector for the coaxial cable to amp. How about $75.00 shipped? Come with a magazine. Not sure if it plays MP3 but I did rip some songs but don't remember the format.

That sounds good. I'll send you a PM later. I'm knee deep with newborn twin boys right now...

I just checked my CD player and it has that connector for the coax cable but there is nothing connected to it. Do you know what that is for? I'm pretty sure we have DSP, It's settings are there in the NAV...

In my X the coaxial cable is connected to the coaxial connector in the amp. The CD changer came with both the coaxial connector and the six pins connector as well as the 3 pins connector. Some later X use the six pins connector instead of the coaxial connector.

Your sig says you have a 2005 X5, which means you should have the AUX function on your head unit. Screw the CD changer, get the BMW aux cable, mount it in the ashtray or glove box, now you can connect your ipod, iphone, or whatever mp3 device you use to your factory stereo. No more carrying a bunch of CD's around and having to swap them out, I haven't bought a CD since 2008.

But can you use the buttons on the steering wheel or on the MID or the touch screen to change tracks?

Or you can use the buttons on your connected MP3 player or the nice touch screen on your iPod or iPhone instead? You can still use the head unit or steering wheel vol! What's wrong with this route?

Much cheaper, more convenient, thousands of songs at your fingertips?
