ET 20 Offset wheels on 06 e53 X5?
So I bought a buddies 20" Beyern Spartans 9" front, 10" rear. They were mounted on his X6 for about 2 weeks, looked bad a** but he found new ones he wanted already lol.. He thought they were 35 offset. They are stamped ET20... Now I am to believe this means offset is 20 correct? My confusion continues with the Beyern website. Www.beyernwheels.com Which states: Front: 9" available in 15, 20 and 32 offset. 20 having a 74 bore (15 and 32 having 72 bore) Rear: 10" available in 20, 25 and 35 offset. 20 having a 72 bore (25 has 74 bore and 35 has 72) Now on there website the offsets are under a column named "PCD" under the "ET" column every wheel is listed 5/120 which I know is the bolt pattern.. The tires I plan to run are 275/40/20 and 315/35/30 staggered.... So really my main questions are is the ET20 marking on the wheels the offset? If so is 20 offset way to extreme? I used a calculator on 1010tires and measured with my calipers and it seems the rears will be about flush and the fronts may stick out a few millimeters, which is fine I like an aggressive stance. But all in all I'd rather not look like a dumbass... I can't get my calipers inside the wheel and expand enough to measure the bore so I figure ill order some hub centric rings to be on the safe side if front or rears end up needing them. I've attached 3 photos, #1 the wheel (love the pattern!) #2 inside front markings, #3 inside rear markings... Any help figuring out the true offset of these wheels along with opinions and other wisdom is highly appreciated!!! Thanks in advance! Phil ![]() ![]()

Well the OEM 20's are a half inch wider (9.5 in front and 10.5 in rear) and your beyerns are 9 and 10 inch wide.
The OEM 20's offset is ET45 front and ET30 rear as opposed to the ET20 all around on your wheels. So the front offset is 25mm more than OEM but the reduced width of the wheel will compensate for that a little bit. A half inch is approx 12 mm which means the final offset will be about 33 mm. So the beyerns will sit further out a few mm more than OEM 20's so you should be fine. Now for the rear. Using the same calculations as above, the rears will also stick out a few MM more than OEM, which sit basically flush with the wheel well. So your rears will provide you with some "poke". You could always have a machine shop grind the wheels down if they stick out too far. They are nice wheels and would look great so it may be worthwhile. I think a test fit is the only real way to see how they will look. Please keep us updated. |

^You have yet to picture whore your "new" set of wheels
![]() I agree with J. about the offset and how it will look on the X. Some of us with OEM 20" wheels add about 20-25mm spacer to push the rear out flush for better look. Your rear would fit more flush without spacer. Make sure you use some hub rings on them. E71 has different hub bores from E53.

The e71 is an oddball in that the front axle has a 74.1mm wheel hub/center bore...but the rear has a 72.56mm wheel hub/center bore.
So it's the front wheels that will require the use of hub centric rings for sure...and you may need them for the rear since they are aftermarket wheels & may have a 74.1mm wheel hub so that they can fit either hub size BMW uses. You can see in the chart below how the e70 X5M & e71 X6 have different hub size (front/rear): (btw, if for some reason I have the front/rear hub sizes wrong...please let me know so that I can edit my chart...it was hard trying to figure which axle was 72.56mm & 74.1mm)

Yes, thanks I had stumbled upon this chart in my research when I realized the true offset of the wheels and is what tipped me off to think I needed at least 2 hub rings.. Discount tire called today my rubber came in! Continental ExtremeContact DWS 275/40/20 front 315/35/20 rear... Thought I'd try these out I've had Toyo Proxes STii before and was happy with them.. I liked the 3 wear indicators on these new DWS.
