Range Rover expansion tank cracked (BMW)
Here a clip of my expansion tank leaking on the side. From looking at BMW forums this issue seems common. About 0.5 litre fluid loss per day. For a week until I got hold of a new tank today I have kept topping up the fluid at first cold start every morning. Sounds like russian roulette but it did not seem that there was any tendency for the leak to increase. |

Common problem.
Look at it this way, you are doing a slow coolant flush by continually adding water to the system. Be careful taking the hoses off the old reservoir. The connectors may be brittle due to the age of the system.

I mixed with antifreeze. I changed tank tonight and it was rather easy.
