How much is my X5 worth

Hello,

I'm not sure if I am posting in the right spot or not, so please forgive me if I got it wrong. Well after 8 years, I am thinking of selling my 2001 4.4 X5 (non sport), and was wondering what a fair price would be.

Below is a summary:

- 2001 4.4 x5
- Titanium Silver with Black interior
- 146K miles
- Never in any accidents
- No Rust
- On a scale of 1 to 10 the body is an 8 to 9 and the interior is the same

Upgrades Include:
- Titanium interior trim
- Silver gauge faces
- Newer X5 Steering wheel
- Dice - Ipod Adapter
- Clear headlight and tail light (BMW)
- Running Boards
- 19 inch rims and tires (rears need replacing)
- Brand New snow tires on factory 18 inch rims - no miles on them

Maintenance
- Full Synthetic Oil Changes every 6K
- OEM brakes (10K miles ago)
- OEM Filters
- All Power Window Tracks
- 2 front door handle guide

Recently Replaced (last 5k miles)
- Radiator, hoses, and expansion tank
- Brake lines (factory)
- Front wheel bearings

Replaced between 100 and 125K
- Front upper and lower control arms
- Ball joints
- End links
- Rear air suspension
- Tune up
- Belts
- Oil separator lines

Replaced between 70 and 100K
- Waterpump
- Intake gaskets
- Valve cover gaskets
- MAF
- Transmission - covered under warranty - dreaded no reverse

The only known issue with the truck is a very small oil leak from the timing chain cover on the drivers side, which my mechanic said isn't worth replacing as it only drips a small amount of oil 1/8 of a quart between oil changes.

So how much do you think a fair price would be? Thanks to all who read my long winded post, and for those that respond.

JD

I think it kinda depends on your location. For example, I just picked up an 03 with all the maintenance yours has had, all done within the last 6 months, plus new alt new waterpump valley pan gaskets, VCG and UTCG's

similar mileage
new 19"tires on factory rims
Ipod
Sirius
silver gauge faces, chrome rings
HID fogs
Rear heated seats
9 of 10 interior
9 of 10 exterior

One owner, with service records from the date purchased
I paid 7k

I see several around me for sale ranging from 5k for beat 3.0's to 14k for a couple 4.8's even some coming in at 20k+

I would check CL to see what things are going for around you.

Id say $9k or so - it looks like the only thing that hasn't been done is the timing chain guides - but having replaced the tranny youre in good shape. I've got 185k on mine and its being painted. Im going to see just how long it will go and then fix it and go some more. Id rather spend some money every now and then than have a car payment. Keep it. Yes, Im biased.

Thanks for the feedback guys.. I am located in MA and we are coming into winter, so I hope the new snows ($1000) will come into play on the price. Mine has also had the valley pan gasket replaced and the tubes under the manifold that go to the waterpump. I hate to get rid of it, but my company moved 50 miles a way and the gas is killing me. I will post it on the foresale section of the board to see if anyone is interested. It really is one of the nicest cars I have ever owned.

By using the many "car" sites...you'd probably get a better idea of your market by utilizing their free service.

My suggestion is to enter your vehicle info at multiple websites that many people use to look for/buy/research when using the internet to help in procuring their next vehicle. All the sites offer help in determining local market price...the ones below are the first that come to mind:
Research them all then average the numbers you get...especially if you get a large difference in selling price.

Good luck.

KBB has a value evaluator where you put in all the details of your vehicle (including region) and it gives you trade in/private sale values based on excellent, good, fair, poor vehicle conditions.

FWIW. The age (12 yrs old), location (MA, an all wheel drive SUV in the NE will have deminished value, seeing it's the go to when the weather gets bad), overall condition (oil leak and limited tread on rear tires) and mileage(150k) will keep the value in the sub 7k range. Also most upgrades are not "value increasers" (it's almost impossible to find a buyer with similar taste/willing to admit it and pay additional).

IMHO, The 9k value noted above would be for a needs nothing, 9 out of 10 in and out, unmolested, NM or AZ car.

Agree with $7k, no way you can get $9k for it.
If you're trying to sell it, post it at whatever price you think is fair (maybe a little higher) It's easier to lower the price than to raise it. Let the demand in your market adjust your price accordingly. If you have no interest after a couple weeks, time to lower it a little.

It depends on the local market. I have almost the identical vehicle, except mine has winter and sport packages. I bought it about a year and a half ago with 110K for $10k and felt like I got a good deal on it.

The early X's bring anywhere from $8-12k here.

I bought a late production date '03 (very last of the early 4.4 Xs) about 3.5 yrs ago......$12,800.

All options except navigation/cd changer/tow package
Titan Silver on Black
Never Hit
One Owner
Central Florida driven
Never driven in/seen snow (zero rust on chassis/fasteners)
100k miles
New, BMW dealer installed tires/brakes/wipers/struts,shocks/Insp 2 service.
Spare tire never used
BMW aligned with tire install, printout provided.
Clean carfax
Full service history (seller provided/matched BMW printout history)
2 small stone chips on front of hood, rest of body total perfection.
Slight wear on driver seat bolster, remainder of interior looks new.
Aced BMW PPI, tech told me THE cleanest/solidest 100k X he'd seen.
NEVER molested (no wire harnesses spliced/altered)

I would not expect to get more then 9k if I were to sell it today (it needs nothing), and it's never been exposed to snow/ice/sleet/corrosive products spread in severe weather.

Pic is post fall clean (a few weeks ago).

Nice ride.

I actually got mine from an Indy over is Seattle. It had been his sister's car since new, so technically I'm the 3rd owner. He was the kind of guy that put floormats over the floormats. Lol.
