I thought for sure being the only Lemans for sale in a 100 mile radius back in August would help me sell it, but you guys are right, everyone wants a deal. I got a bunch of calls and emails about mine, but very few serious offers. One couple that stopped by for a test drive didn't even know that a 4.8is was special, the wife just saw the pretty blue color, lol. I knew immediately I wouldn't be hearing from them again. I think $18-20k is very reasonable for these cars in the 80k mile range, you just have to find someone who appreciates them, knows the maintenance costs, and still wants to own one.

I was going to start a post about the value or the pedigree-ness of the 4.8is. As it turns out these vehicles are worth nothing. I went to the BMW dealership because I have been toying with getting a brand new car and he tells me my truck only worth about 15 to 16k trade in. I was shocked....granted that my truck only has 63k on the clock. I thought the "is" puts this truck in a different class prior to purchasing it and chances are you MIGHT get something back for it being an "is".

Yeah I mean it is difficult to get commercial value for any car, especially "Special" cars. I was toying with the idea to trade in for an E70 at the dealership... The guy whips out the "book" and then says, "Will in a perfect world, if the car had 88K miles, it would be worth $8.3K, but in your case, we are prepared to give you $6800.00. I just chuckled and said thank you and walked out. I mean if I was dumb enough and took it, they would throw it up to manheim and anything North of $10K they would be doing just fine. I got the same problem with my 2002 SLK320. It has 13K miles in it, cherry condition... Looking at the market, they had them listed for $22K... So I threw it up at $18K.... I had people emailing me asking, "Well, BBK says the car is worth $10K, why are you asking so much?" SO then I tell them to do this... Put the same year in, but up the mileage to 100K miles, tell me what you get. It says the car is worth $9100 in excellent condition. So I ask them, "Do you think it makes logical sense that a car with 86K miles more on it is worth $900 less?" And they go, "Well the price is the price, sell or no? I'll bring cash." So I say no. Then I went to the MB dealer where I bought it; again, they whip out the book and go $7500.00. I was kind of insulted by the offer because they had a 2003 in the showroom with 21k miles.... $21.9K... So I point that one out to them and they go, "Oh, totally different car. Its a 2003 and has the AMG wheels." I said, "Ok, but AMG wheels can be had anywhere for $1100. Just because it came factory on the car, doesn't mean it can be badged AMG, its only got the wheels. Plus, the windshield on that had been replaced with aftermarket, yet you are selling it as if it was an example a "fine collector." They sales person says, "Well, you got to understand the car is 11 years old." Thats when I laughed and left.

Just need patience and someone that actually knows their stuff to come around.

How's your business plan coming along? TwinTurboGTR
I think one of the reasons why there're more iS now in the market is that it's starting to get old and new models coming out. Even the low mileage ones are approaching 70k-85k miles, which will need some maintenance soon. I didn't mean to say that the owners want to get out of that when time/mileage comes, and the buyers should be fully aware/expected that.
Not many average Joe know what an "iS" actually is, so they don't appreciate it as much as we (bimmers fanatics) do. It's now a "buyer" market out there. I get my iS with all the DINAN stuff on it for $18k with 103k miles. I think that's a pretty good deal considering the PPI is quite good.
If any of these iS was for-sale back then, I would seriously consider, especially yours, relentlessone. All you have to do is getting a PPI for it. I would have flight out, put $18k (CASH of course ) on your table and taking the keys and title from you.
I'd still keep posting the ads on those free sites and waiting for the "right" buyer to come along, and tell the low-ballers to GTFO.
GL to you all.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
You want to talk about low trade in value? I went to the local Bimmer dealership, wanted some numbers on getting my wife an E70 diesel a couple months ago, my wife's 2011 Rav4 is loaded, just over 2 years old, 32k miles, excellent condition. Sticker on the car was $33k in August of 2011, we paid just under 29k I believe.

Trade in value on it? "Between 13-15k". 50% DEPRECIATION IN 2 YEARS!

And I thought the Japanese cars were supposed to hold their value??? It really is a buyers market, ESPECIALLY with used vehicles, bc the new ones just aren't holding value.
