Thank you!

Will document this on a separate thread.

There's some type of change that took place sometime around the face lift. Go back to the part database and do a part nbr search for each part nbr...take note that one nbr is for the 3.0/4.4/4.6is with the M54/M62 engines...and the other nbr is for the 3.0/4.4/4.8is with the M54 & N62 engines...plus a date of 10/2003 in the FROM column.

In the back of my brain...there's a foggy memory about a change in the liftgate.

EDIT: found it...the SCA (soft close actuator) changed at the 10/2003 mfg date:

found a "sensor" hanging out by the front driver side wheel just wondering what's it for and where exactly it belongs

Here we are again...IMO this is not a "dumb" question and should be asked in a thread of it's own so that it's not buried...and could easily be found in the future by doing a simple forum search.

There are many owners that may have this same question which they would never think to check or look for in this thread.

I'm almost at the point where I'm feeling this thread should be locked because there are lots of important questions being asked & answered...but lost in this multiple page thread that has veered far from it's original intent.

I apologize in advance if I hurt anyone's feelings...I'm not trying to be mean etc...but again, people are asking serious questions in a thread that appears to be originally intended for "fluff"...and I enjoy the "fluff" threads as well as the next forum member.

BTW...did you take a pic of this "hanging" sensor? If so, it would be the easiest way to identify it. The first thing that comes to mind is the ambient temp sensor. But a pic would worth 1000 words.

the brake wear sensor are located on the front left and rear right wheels. did you also get a "brake lining" message on your dashboard?

I got that message couple months ago, after looking at both sensor locations see what I found in the picture. ordered a new one and replaced and all is well. However if u confirm its the brake wear sensor, you should check brake pads thickness especially if they have not been replaced in the last year or so. I will locate the thread that helped me out and send a link.
I also agree you should have post this on its own thread. you will get fast response time.Name: uploadfromtaptalk1402502151512.jpg

today, I thought id have a go at fixing my inner passenger door panel as I've loads of clips broke.
turns out one of my expandable nuts has disappeared close to the inner handle .so getting a new one tmoro the silly question is.......
there is a bulb going into the inside door handle, (now I didn't know there were bulbs here as none of them work on any of the doors),
A. when do they light up?
B. any one know what bulb they are so I can buy more?

These are LEDs, light up when car lights are on, like the ones overhead... the handles actually have a light guide - the bulb is at one location, the light is guided the other location. Super fragile!!!!

cheers for the reply fella, couldn't tell if they were leds or normal bulbs,
I think ill just add them to the ever increasing list of things that needs fixing.
quite strange that all 4 have gone tho, I thought leds were more resistant to blowing than regular bulbs. wonder what fuse there running off

The bulb may not be blown...it may just be a cracked/broken/misaligned light tube...as TX5 mentioned...they are fragile.

And since the window regulators & vapor barriers fail more than the bulbs...the light tubes may have been disturbed and not replaced correctly while the regulator or vapor barrier was being repaired.

Also...please consider creating a signature that includes your model/model year/build date. I was getting ready to look up the diagram and post it...but I don't know what you have.

To create a signature, click the USER CP link at the top right of the page (in the blue border)..then look along the left side of the page for EDIT SIGNATURE. It will help us help you better.

ive removed the door cards, due to one of the expandable nuts being missing , causing a few of the plastic clips to break ,
