2014 UPDATE
It's been a while since I last posted on the forums, I had to ace my finals so all my energy went into learning. 2100 in the SAT ![]() ![]() Since I last posted here I've done a few things to the car that I consider make it just that little bit nicer. Lookin' in the "show us your X" thread, I got in love with the US-Style Parking lights you guys have so I had to do that. An easy 2 minute job done using the OBD port and a laptop. Moreover, with the help from some friends in the Police department, I got my hands on a US Sized front number plate(incredibly rare, technically ilegal) which further enhanced the looks. The final mod were the E63 style grills in matte black, although they would have looked way better on a white or silver car, they also compliment the overall aspect of the vehicle. ![]() I also tinted the front windows in Llumar Air 75 tint but will soon be upgrading to something darker, probably 50% oppacity this will be the final mod since I'm moving to the UK for a few years. I also upgraded the Audio system. Focal all round powered by an Alpine amp, twin 12 inch JBL subwoofers also powered by an Alpine amp, sound deadning in the doors, Alpine head-unit, upgraded wiring, battery and many other little things. Concert quality sound. I'll soon be posting a tutorial on how to remove the kidney grills and paint them. ![]() Best regards |

Nice... Its crazy how you guys want US marker stuff, IMO US market gets crap, id much prefer the clear corners but they are expensive... Too bad its not just snap the orange plastix piece off like it was in my audi.

Welcome on board!
I crossed your country twice in the previous months, one from south to north, and one from east to south. I didn't see too many X5s, so you should be proud of yours!

Hey there,
The temperature was crazy low these days back home, in Romania. Because of the snow I had to park my car outside (it could not reach the garage because the driveway was covered in about 5 inches of snow) and boy was the start-up a nightmare. In the first video the car sat overnight, with a low of -22 degrees Fahrenheit, and almost did not start. The battery is brand new, got it the day before I filmed, but the fuel and oil had freezed. At the time I did the start-up the temperature was about - 3 degrees F. A metallic noise came from the engine, but, fortunately, nothing serious was damaged. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oPwMdQ_jXzc In the second video, I had started the car up in the middle of the night and let it run for about 30 minutes so a little bit of heat would be preserved in the engine bay(that was the logic of the drunk version of me). In the morning the car started up with no problem, just with A LOT OF SMOKE. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBO7uv09Mp0 P.S. The E53 really does suck in the snow. My friends A4 Quattro and my dads S350 all went up the driveway no problem. |

^do you have snow tires?they do not suck in the snow you just need the right shoes to get you through the ice and snow.

Yes, the car has winter tires. I'm assuming they were over-inflated or something.

You can put some additive in your diesel so it does not freeze when it is too cold.
