What is this seat switch?

I'm doing some research on a PDC retrofit, and came across this unit for sale on EBAY. What is that second icon next to the heated seat switch? Cooled seats? I didnt think those were options on the e53

That is what's known as the SZM (Schalt Zentrum Mittekonsole), or Middle Console Switch Row. I believe there was indeed an option for cooled seats in late-model E53's.

confusing. I need to look in the manual and see what each logo is for. For example, I have a Tire in brackets...does that mean I have TpMS? I didnt think I did. If I need to add PDC, do I need to find a switch that has the exact options I need, or are they modular?

Do you have the complete option list for your VIN? That would tell you if you have TPMS.

If you need the option list, PM your VIN and email, and I'll send you a PDF copy of it.

BTW, the functions in the SZM are NOT modular. There were several variants, each with different function options.

if your switch has the tire in exclamation point brackets you prob have TPMS. easy way to look at your valve stems, non-TPMS stems are visually different that TPMS sensors. You should also find a switch panel that has PDC button if you are looking to add it.

No I've got it in my email somewhere.

I'll look again. So, if I have heated seats, DSC, TPMS, Descent control, and then want to retrofit PDC, I need to find a console that has those exact buttons? at that point its just plug and play or does the harness get modified as well? I assume if the car is 'pre-wired' the harness for the center console switch should be fully loaded for those options?

I'm far from an expert on retro-fitting anything, but I do know you'll also need a PDC ECU, and maybe even an additional harness to the front and/or rear bumper.
