I'm going to roll it into a ditch and set it on fire now.

Seth, did you go with an aftermarket CV Axle? If so the consolation is you didn't pay too much; $60-$100 if you can't return it. I went with EMPI and paid around $90 including S&H. And you'll still be coming out ahead had you taken it to the dealer. Save for the frustration.

Okay. I'm finally done!! Of all the stupid crazy hard jobs I've done on a vehicle, this is the top. Keep in mind I'm 43 years old and have been working my cars since I was 14.

I still have a yellow anti-skid light but it might reset because the brake rotor was rusty and was basically not functioning for several minutes. Either way, I couldn't care less at this point.

Good news is......it drives like a new truck! Very tight and smmoooottthhh like my M5.

Truck is working great. The new transfer case chain, front drive shaft, cv axle, and wheel bearing definitely solved all my issues. It is totally silent on the road.

Question though...

I'm getting the ABS and anti-skid lights ever since I changed the cv axle. I have a 02/2000 model and I was wondering if anyone knows where the target for the ABS sensor is. Is it in the bearing or on the axle or what?

When you changed the CV/axle did you compare the number of teeth on the old cv joint with the new cv joint?

The other item did you remove the wheel sensor before removing the cv joint and axle? If not you might have damaged the sensor during the removal or when you installed the new CV / axle.

My cv axle has no teeth on it and the old and the new one were the same.

As for the sensor, it looked fine and it wasn't traumatized in any way. The pressing of the bearing into the bore is a very sensitive operation so I don't know what's up.

I'm hoping it'll reset because it has before.

Like I posted earlier you probably damaged the wheel sensor.
