Your year, same options, same miles = $12'000 on Manheim. Expect a lot less than that on trade in.

I have never found that to be a viable option and have owned at least 30 automobiles over the last 42 years.

I have had good experience when I had time/patience on Craigs List.

I have not been as fortunate. I have parts on Craigslist that I have been trying to sell for over a year. X5 taillights, E46 interior parts, even new tires for my son's traded in Chevy. All I get is "Hi is it still available ?" I reply " Yes, it is." And either they try to spam or scam me or (more often) I never hear back again.

Hence, I don't find it to be a reasonable venue for me.

Everything else I agree with you. Cars I have sold reasonably well. I understand administrating the spam & bs is disheartening.

I sell cars for a living and 90 percent of the time I use craigslist to advertise and ultimately sell them. I have had great success with craigs list selling cars. Parts? Not so much. Don't let your experience in the fickle world of used car parts thwart you selling your car. Having said that, with all of my knowledge and experience, I couldn't give my x5 away on craigslist. I ended up negotiating a very fair trade in value on my Titan. Keep in mind also that you have a low mileage car. That alone makes it far more desirable. Once the luxury cars get up in mileage, they become hard to sell for a good price. Good luck with whatever you do and you're welcome for looking on Manheim for you.

I haven't owned 30 vehicles over 42 years but there have been many over that period of time.

I've sold every one but the first when I had to drive home using only one arm and leg. That's been in small towns, big cities and several states. I can't remember it ever taking longer than 2 weeks. The last one was sold the second day. The convenience of a trade-in is nice but my back hurts when I bend over that far.

I will say the most of the vehicles had many mods and all were in exception condition, with all the history, repair and maintenance receipts. And, I have sold collector cars through a broker but only because that was a much better way to reach the target market and even then we negotiated his fee.

BTW-I would not be a good used car salesman and I don't ask the waiter for 10 individual checks.
