since you are in E53 forum, you probably have an E53... on the other hand, you are talking about battery registration, so, you might have an E70... it has 70 K miles, so, it could be a 2007 E70 or 2006 E53... or, 2000 E53... or, 2011 E70... all of which are outside of warranty...

before rendering any suggestion, other than a generic "don't warm the car in driveway", it would be beneficial to clearly identify your ride - you did say Integra, so - is it an Acura?

First of all, I thank all for the replies. Many great thoughts, recommendations and might I add "observation".

The reason I have 'Hisenberg' is because 'Heiseberg' wasn't available.

Now back to original issue. To clarify, I have an 06' X5 E53 with 4.8is. I went back and ran the battery voltage test in the instrument cluster. These two figures showed up. 10.5 and 11. I realize those are concerning numbers.

What bugs me is, the battery is brand new. The battery that was initially replaced is only a year old. How can all these issue arise when the car sits 90% of the time.

In addition to previously stated problems, the ABS, 4x4, Check Engine & brake light are now on. Transfailsafe message also appears. When I start the cold soaked car, all kind of weird belt noises are heard. But again, I have driven only 2 miles in last month. How can the car just break when it is not even being driven.

The recommendation for the battery to be registered with the car was proposed to me by a local BMW workshop. Orr Autosport in Minneapolis to be precise.

Again, thank you for your time. If you guys can think of any thing else; do let me know. I hate to fall out of love from my X5.. she is a beauty even when she is sick.

Time for an alternator, if those voltages are with the engine running.

Forget the battery registration, you have an E53. Find a new shop.

A bad battery can kill an alternator, and a bad alternator can kill a battery.

Sitting unused is harder on a car than being driven.

That because you brought a BMW which is the Ultimate Driving Machine. You wouldn't buy a thoroughbred race horse and then let it stand around all day, you'll take it for a ride to let it stretch it legs. Better to buy a mundane SUV like a Ford, or Chevy if you just want to let sit around and not have any problems.

Help us help you better by clicking on the USER CP link at top right of page (in the blue border that runs along the top of the page)...and create a signature.

That way we can be specific in our replies, suggestions, and answers...as well as helps us if we need to look up info that applies to your application...or point you to links that apply to your X5 as to where it falls within the production range from 2000-2006.

It also helps others in the future when searching for info. If they run across a post made by you...and something you did or said, or experienced applies to them as far as wanting to do or check, then they can see your model/model year/build date and immediately know that it won't be a dead end because it doesn't apply to them.

All, again thank you for the informational responses. The battery that is giving problems now is only a week old. I have considered all responses and will keep on the course of avenue I choose. The car is parked outside and I have to wait until is starts warming up slightly. At this point it's -23 degrees.
