Anyone here done an OEM style heated seat retrofit? I had planned to just buy seats with heaters and add an original switch panel with the heated seat buttons. Is all the other wiring in place? PLug and play? From my reading it looks like E46 seats are basically direct swap? Would E39 seats be any easier? Just looking for some confirmation.

I installed a BSW system several years ago. All new speakers, amp and subwoofer and it works with DSP. I'm not an audio nut but I could certainly annoy my neighbors. Have not had any problems with the system.

I would address the battery issue first with a load test. As mentioned, a bad battery may be setting off some of the dash.

I purchased the Rumanian software package and very seldom use it. I found it not to be intuitive and I have caused problems when I did something it didn't like. Many dedicate a Windows based laptop to run the software because because of the hard drive space it eats. There is a forum that is great source for information and help if you are familiar with the jargon they use. So far the Torque bluetooth Apple based app has been sufficient. I can run it on my iPad or on my phone. It does provide some information when driving. Last I knew Upallnight liked a similar app for Android phones. Much less cumbersome.

I don't know if the 6 cylinders have the CCV problem like the V-8s, but if you haven't noticed there are a ton of threads about guys up north having some serious issues with the cold weather.

Did the engine turn over vigorously or was there a clicking sound like the battery was dead? Just making a statement that the truck didn't start is useless to people trying to help you.

Did you ever get the SES DTC code read? Even if you don't have a specific BMW software, a generic OBD II scanner can be helpful in determining the problem.

its an issue with the battery or charging system. It will turn over hard a couple of times and then just click. I hooked up my 528 to it from under the hood of the X5, not even at the battery and it popped off immediately. When it warms up a bit I will have it tested and such. its re-damn-diculously cold out right now.

You could have a parasitic draw that is killing the battery over night.

Yes. I did. The wiring is all in place. You'll need heated seats and a center console switch which has all your current buttons plus the heated seat buttons.

If you're up for a road trip to Indiana, I got mine from a junkyard in South Bend. Their name is Veldman's Auto Parts and they post on ebay. They're very cheap and you can save shipping charges if you pick up and pay by cc (plus it saves them ebay fees). With tax I was out the door for $267.50 for 2 seats and the switch. There was a discount since one seat they didn't have position switch and cladding which I swapped over from my car which was no big deal. They also forgot to pull the center console switch so they threw it in for free after I got a ride to the yard and pulled it. It's a huge operation but they really treated me well so I was impressed and would recommend them. Since I broke an internal seat wire this year in my seats I will probably be buying from them in the near future again. It looks like their seats are going for $150-$200 each now on ebay which I think is still very cheap for upgrading to seat heat.

Ricky Bobby will become famous soon enough
Carter where did you find seats so cheap on eBay? For the longest time I've been looking to find Dakota leather sport seats with no dice, only find sets for like 1k or more on eBay (and they look to be junkyard operations)

In my E36 I had manual adjustment E46 ///M seats. I wired them up my self. They weren't in the best shape since they came out of a wreck though. Guy I sold them to said he would sell them back to me for a pittance of what they are really worth. I'm contemplating that right now. pic for comparison.
