lean fuel trims

new X53 3.0L. got the P1074/1076 codes, the usual stuff from what I've seen on the board. I replace the lower boot, had a big crack in it. hoped that fixed things but no luck. X5 has 140k on it. not sure what has been done to it, only had it a month. runs/idles perfectly. just can't clear these codes. thinking about the CCV system, just replace it and get it over with. sooner or later, it needs it, right? tried spaying carb cleaner to find intake leak, nothing. pulled the DISA and it looks/feels tight with a nice oring still in good shape. got under it, checked the vac lines to the dip stick tube, all look good, not old and crumbly. So order the CCV and hose kit and just swap it out to get it done?

What are you using to determine the lean code? Are you looking at the actual short term fuel trim data?

Could be a bad MAF. If you do replace the MAF buy a Siemens MAF, don't bother with those cheap knock off on eBay and Amazon.

I have a scanner that reads fuel trims real time. bank2 is real bad, bank1 comes and goes. since it was only 1 bank, I wasn't looking at the MAF right now. especially since both banks were real bad before I replaced the lower boot.

So how much percentage of fuel is being added according to the scanner? 20% or more will set off the SES light.

yep.....runnin 27% or higher. got to be an intake leak or CCV or something.

You only have 1 lean code P0174 which is for bank 2. Other other lean cold for Bank 1 would have been p0171.

P0176 is another code.
